We're seeking a Temporary Health & Safety Officer to provide administrative and operational assistance across our manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Lead Health and Safety Officer who is responsible for all Health and Safety activities you will work as member of a small, dedicated team. You will be responsible for monitoring Health and Safety activities and risk assessments; staff development and training activities; pulling together key management information; advising Line Managers on HSE Regulations and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement, adopting best practice and ensuring we work in a safe progressive environment.

Please note this role is a 6 month contract and is a fully onsite position. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide HSE advice and support to departmental managers.
  • Produce H&S reports, statistics and internal communications as required
  • Review and update H&S policies and procedures, ensuring company-wide compliance
  • Carry out monitoring activities and risk assessments.
  • Support projects, driving improvements and best practice.
  • Maintain H&S records, including risk assessments, actions and compliance data.
  • Coordinate training, refresher courses and new starter inductions.
  • Support accident investigations and corrective actions.
  • Conduct audits and spot checks of working practices.
  • Support H&S meetings, including agendas, minutes and follow-up actions

Skills & Experience required:

  • Maths and English GCSE grade C/5 or above
  • Proficient in Microsoft Packages
  • Excellent organisational, planning and self-management skills.
  • Ability to analyse and present information accurately.
  • Proven ability to coordinate multiple activities and deadlines.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Flexible and adaptable across different work environments.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
  • Able to work under pressure, follow instruction and meet deadlines.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.

Hours of Work: 39 hrs per week, Monday to Friday.
